BioI am a 23 year old from Edinburgh currently living in Toronto. I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an undergraduate MA in politics in 2008 and after half a year of general failure came to Canada in the spring of 2009. I have since secured low paid retail work to fund my time in Canada before my return to Edinburgh.
After many years of flirtation with various political ideologies I have come to the conclusion that I am a liberal, in the European sense of the word, with a deeply conservative personality. Put simply I strongly believe in free speech, but spend most of my time wishing that people would keep quiet.
Despite being devoid of any musical talent or technical understanding, I absolutely love music, particularly music of the noisy and melancholy type. My tastes are fairly varied although it is within the shoegaze genre that the highest concentration of my favourite bands lay, indeed few things will impress me more in a stranger than a shared fondness for shoegaze.
Although I believe in maintaining a stiff upper lip in public, I am quite melancholy and nostalgic. I spend way too much time reliving a rose tinted version of the past in my mind. Nevertheless I am not inclined to out and out depression, well aware that out of the 6 billion people on this planet, I am a lot more fortunate than most. I have always had a very comfortable standard of living and more than this I have a great family and friends.
